Day 134

Thoughts: Ever wondered what the Buddha ate???

Well I did! Hehe and look what I found....(www.buddhatrance.com)

First, who is Buddha?
Buddha Skakyamuni was born as a royal prince in 624 BC in a place called Lumbini, which was originally in northern India but is now part of Nepal. Today in general, ‘Buddha’ means ‘Awakened One’, someone who has awakened from the sleep of ignorance and sees things as they really are. A Buddha is a person who is completely free from all faults and mental obstructions. There are many people who have become Buddhas in the past, and many people will become Buddhas in the future….There is nothing that Buddha does not know. Because he has awakened from the sleep of ignorance and has removed all obstructions from his mind, he knows everything of the past, present, and future, directly and simultaneously. Moreover, Buddha has great compassion which is completely impartial, embracing all living beings without discrimination.

What did the Buddha eat?
Well… he surely ate good stuff, because at that time there were no pesticides, chemical preservatives and genetically engineered foods (a.k.a. Frankenfoods).

At that time there were also no refrigerators, nor airplanes. So he had to nourish himself with foods that were grown locally and according to the seasons.

That’s right. No pineapples and bananas, had the Buddha lived in Alaska. No buffalo meat, had he lived in Hawaii!

The Zen way of eating follows the cycles of nature and the universal laws of balance of the two opposite and complementary energies, known as Yin and Yang.

Here, you will be given general principles and guidelines as to what you can do to be in perfect harmony with your environment, which is the foundation of good health. That means, when your outer environment and the inner environment of your body are in resonance.

Disease is not an absolute state of being, rather a temporary condition of not being “at ease” with the surroundings (dis-ease).

Of course, times have changed and technology has offered us wonderful ways to improve our lifestyles. Today we do have refrigerators and airplanes that allow the exchange of goods over great distances – we have to take that into account.

However, if you understand the universal principles (beyond time and space) of harmony and balance, you will be able to use your good judgement and still make your own free choices.

That’s why it is preferable to think in terms of a “way of eating”, rather than a “diet”.

Eating in the “NOW” is simple and fun to do and it will bring your body and mind back to an optimal level of balance and healing.

Whole organic foods, mostly of vegetable quality, will purify the vibrational rate of your body. As a result, you will clear your mind.

All the ingredients listed in the recipes can be easily found at health food stores. You can also shop for fresh organic veggies at your local farmer’s market.

It is important to think of food as energy, rather than merely in terms of daily values, calories and percentages. This kind of information can be valuable, but if we fail to consider the “energetic” part of the food we intake, we miss an important part of the equation.

Because we are all “energetic” beings, whichever external energy enters our field, it will affect us one way or the other. By observing Nature we come to be aware of its energy patterns and start to recognize the cycles and correspondences and our place within them.

Are you ready to begin?

(check out this article on www.buddhatrance.com)

Challenges: I am certainly attached to certain foods, and I have the attitude like "I don't care where avocados, nectarines or cocoa powder are grown, I want them where ever I am in the world". It would be challenging for me to completely eat off the land where I am at. I found this challenging in India too because a lot of rice and beans and spices are grown there after 10 days of eating only that I was ready to head back to Australia and eat raw fresh fruits and vegetables.

Triumphs: I feel that eating whole organic foods, mostly raw vegetables and fruits have certainly purified the vibrational rate of my body. I want everyone to experience this also...if they choose, and why wouldn't you choose beaming with health, vitality, love and light?

What I Ate Today:

Breakfast: A pear. Half a cucumber. An avocado.

Lunch: Cooked beans (lentils, butter beans, chick peas)

Dinner: A nectarine. A pear. A avocado. Indian, rice with spices and chilli and chick peas.

Dessert: Chocolate balls.

Snacks: an apple.

Exercise: 20 minute ab class, 20 minute bike ride, 15 minutes on the running machine while watching Brad and Angelina in "Mr and Mrs Smith", such a sexy film. Then the steam room. Nothing beats a great workout, great sweatout, and some great food. Mmmm mmmm the love and goodness going in the body...bliss.

231 days to go!

Day 135

White poison. Celebrities like Hayden Paneterie, Rhianna, Hiedi Klum, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Brooke Sheilds, Usher and The Olsen Twins say it's good for us...so it's got to be good right? Haa!

Thoughts: Milk...is it good or bad for us? What is the truth about this white liquid that comes out of a cow?

This blog is dedicated to James :)

Yes milk is Mother Nature's "perfect food" ...for a calf... until it is weaned.
And yes we have learnt that milk is an essential source of bone - strengthening calcium. HOWEVER the milk we buy today in the supermarket actually does more harm to our bdies then good.

Many years ago when the Earth occupied less chemicals, pollution and pesticides, milk from cows my have been a healthy consumtpion. Nowadays when you drink the milk that comes from a hormone injected cow and the milk is then processed and heated, you are left with a machine made hormone infested white posion that actually drains calcium from your bones. (That's why women in Western Europe have far more osteporosis than the ones in Asia that eat more vegetarian diet.)

Yes I know it's opposite to everything you have learnt or been told. Everything you know about cow's milk and dairy is probably part of a Dairy industry MYTH. The manufacturues make sooo much money on milk, BILLIONS in fact yearly, so of course they want to keep porducing the milk by the masses and making the money that comes along with it. The milk industry is losing money in the westernworld due to more and more people becoming aware of the detramental effects on our long term health. The countries that consume the most dairy products have the highest incidences of breast cancer, colon cancer (and other cancers), osteoporosis, diabetes etc etc so now the industry is looking to the East to spread its wares. China who are almost 100% lactose intolerant are being told milk is good for them and are being sold cattle which are not suitable for their climates. It is a dirty, dirty business.
Also Japan who have the lowest breast cancer rates in the developed world are now being introduced to the 'wonders' of the white stuff. Their disease rates are rocketing with it.

MILK'S BASIC CONTENTS
(http://www.rense.com/general26/truth.htm)
*ALL* cow's milk (regular and 'organic') has 59 active hormones, scores of allergens, fat and cholesterol.

Most cow's milk has measurable quantities of herbicides, pesticides, dioxins (up to 200 times the safe levels), up to 52 powerful antibiotics (perhaps 53, with LS-50), blood, pus, feces, bacteria and viruses. (Cow's milk can have traces of anything the cow ate... including such things as radioactive fallout from nuke testing ... (the 50's strontium-90 problem). I don't know about you but eww eww eww I aint drinkin pesticides and chemicals...there is enough of that in the air today let alone actually going and purchasing it from a carton in a store!

Someone once pointed out to me that 'back in the day' people would have milk delivered in glass bottles to their door step every couple of days. This was because the milk would go off every few days. Now milk can last a couple of weeks...think about what they are doing to the milk to make it last this long. So unless you actually know of an organic farmer who has cows and you go out and watch it being milked, or you actually milk the cow yourself...it's best to stay away from it. Unless of course you want the following symptoms...

As early as the 1930s, it was realized that cows injected with material drawn from bovine (cow) pituitary glands (hormone secreting organ) produced more milk. Later, the bovine growth hormone (bGH) from the pituitary glands was found to be responsible for this effect. However, at that time, technology did not exist to harvest enough of this material for large-scale use in animals. In the 1980s, it became possible to produce large quantities of pure bGH by using recombinant DNA technology. In 1993, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the recombinant bovine growth hormone (rbGH), also known as bovine somatotropin (rbST) for use in dairy cattle. Recent estimates by the manufacturer of this hormone indicate that 30% of the cows in the United States (US) may be treated with rbGH.

Beauty Queen and Vegan Earth lover Carolyn Wagner wrote "Dairy is also one of the top ten foods that cause allergic reactions in people. Mother nature didn’t design for adults to be sucking something out of a tit and therefore many people will react to it. As for the health issue “Where will you get your calcium?” Sesame seeds, green leafy veggies, broccoli, nuts, tofu, figs, baked beans are all great sources of calcium. Animal proteins also acidify the body. Calcium then leeches from the bones to try and combat this and then causes bone loss. Also studies have found that countries with the highest intake of dairy have the highest rate of osteoporosis and many other diseases. Also in dairy you might find traces of blood and puss from the teats of the cow that happens when a machine is attached to them for many hours of the day not only sucking out milk but rubbing and causing bleeding and sometime infections. There is also the antibiotics and hormones that the cows are pumped full of and you might even find some pesticides." To read her full blog go to http://theearthdiet.blogspot.com/2010/02/day-92.html

And daily consumption from the "milk group" is reccomended by the US and Australian goverment...disgusting.

What about soy milk? Is that any better? I will write tomorrows blog on Soy Milk. ;)

Challenges: I was activated when I saw how many celebrities have posed for a photo with a cup of milk and glue on their faces to show that they drink milk and other people around the world should follow them and do so also. Why did they do this? Do they even know anything about milk? I'm sure with a million dollar cheque they wouldn't even think twice about the machine creating what may be white poison. I can tell you now, no amount of money would convince me to do it. Not even a million dollars. Not when it is killing people. How can it be worth it?

Triumphs: I am grateful that I know this.

What I Ate Today:

Breakfast: A green apple. A orange. A nectarine.

Lunch: Brazil nuts and 5 nectarines.

Dinner: A avocado with mixed sprouts, chick peas and lentils and beans mmm mmm!

Dessert: Chocolate balls.

Snacks: Brazil nuts.

Exercise: Worked out some weights at Gold's Gym and then relaxed in the steam room mmm mmm mmm!

Day 136

Thoughts: What does "genetically modified food" mean? Are we are becoming genetically modified people?

Genetically modified (GM) foods are foods derived from genetically modified organisms. Genetically modified organisms have had specific changes introduced into their DNA by genetic engineering, using a process of either Cisgenesis or Transgenesis. Which means human interfering and machinary. The world population has topped 6 billion people and is predicted to double in the next 50 years. Ensuring an adequate food supply for this booming population is going to be a major challenge in the years to come. Genetically Modified foods promise to meet this need in a number of ways for example pest resistance, crop losses from insect pests can be staggering, cold tolerance and nutrition. Malnutrition is common in third world countries where impoverished peoples rely on a single crop such as rice for the main staple of their diet. However, rice does not contain adequate amounts of all necessary nutrients to prevent malnutrition. If rice could be genetically engineered to contain additional vitamins and minerals, nutrient deficiencies could be alleviated. Is it possible to continue living on the Earth without GMF?

A beautiful and intelligent friend of mine Leanne Bridges thinks not....

"Genetically Modified food? What harm can a diddled tomato or a fiddled carrot do to your body?

PLENTY! And it does not stop there.
While ignorant scientists, confined in their dogmatic views were fiddling with our food and playing god, they happily forgot/omitted/ignored a vary important scientific fact (I struggle with science because it is only what we know at this point with what we have but....) called: Gene Transfer.

We all 'know' that we receive our DNA and therefore genes from our parents, but some may not know that we evolve thanks to all species. As Pennisi (2001) puts it 'we can no longer comfortably say what is a species anymore'. Genetic transfer means (as I understand it and I am certainly no expert - but there are experts who have provided some very strong evidence/proof) that we receive genes from many/all species which enables a faster evolution. We can receive specialist information and learnt experiences from any organism, regardless of species.

A way that I explain it in my mind is this:
If you consider a community to be made up of many, than a cell is a mini community (nucleus, organelles, plasma membrane, cytoplasm), notch it up a level and an organ is a community, up again and you have an organ system as a community and finally a human is a community. You are as individual as the 50 trillion + cells that make you what you are. I said 'finally' before, but it is not 'finally'. Up another level and than another and another until you get to the planet community.

Cells learn, differentiate, grow and reproduce at the most basic level of the individual cell, so given that we live in a community of unlimited cells if you look at the planet level, it is not so hard to understand/believe that we, as cells of a massive organismal community that is Earth, learn, differentiate, grow and reproduce thanks to many outside contributors.

So what does this mean when we look at genetically modified foods? Nothing good I assure you. When you modify the genes of a potato, you are introducing artificially created cells into your bodies cell environment and beyond. These genes attack our internal environment.

There are also reports of 'superweeds' growing around the genetically modified crops.

If you think about these 'superweeds' in that environment, than I don't know about you but the first thing that pops into my head is the same 'superweeds' could appear in my internal environment (not as weeds, you get my drift).

Genetically modified foods, in my opinion do not have a place in our environment. Because like atomic bombs and nuclear waste, they have the potential to effect us all, but that we do not have a say. Millions of lives could be exterminated at the press of a button or the injection of an ignorant scientist."

Leanne Bridges - studying Anatomy and Physiology at Uni "Bruce Lipton is a great writer on this subject and has a holistic view to life as we know it."

http://www.csa.com/discoveryguides/gmfood/overview.php
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genetically_modified_food

Challenges: I totally agree with Leanne, I don't believe GMF have a place on Earth. It seems with all these new inventions and machines we are moving further away from who we are, the earth, and the health of the planet and ourselves. Are we are becoming genetically modified people?

Triumphs: Thank you Leanne for making me and others from around the world aware of GMF! You are amazing and inspiring, a human being that is out to make a difference with people and the planet :)

What I Ate Today:

Breakfast: Chocolate balls. A pear. A avocado with mixed sprouts, beans, lentils and chickpeas.

Lunch: A avocado with mixed sprouts, beans, lentils and chickpeas.

Dinner: Indian rice with spices, green chilli and corriander.

Dessert: Chocolate balls with brazil nuts.

Snacks: A pear.

What Happens to Your Body Within an Hour of Drinking a Coke...

Thoughts: This blog thanks to Elisha Yarington, a beautiful earthling lookin out for our earth and the people in it...

Within the first 10 minutes, 10 teaspoons of sugar hit your system. This is 100 percent of your recommended daily intake, and the only reason you don’t vomit as a result of the overwhelming sweetness is because phosphoric acid cuts the flavor.

Within 20 minutes, your blood sugar spikes, and your liver responds to the resulting insulin burst by turning massive amounts of sugar into fat.

Within 40 minutes, caffeine absorption is complete; your pupils dilate, your blood pressure rises, and your livers dumps more sugar into your bloodstream.

Around 45 minutes, your body increases dopamine production, which stimulates the pleasure centers of your brain – a physically identical response to that of heroin, by the way.

After 60 minutes, you’ll start to have a sugar crash.

Challenges: I certainly have missed my juicers. It was 3 weeks without one before today...tomorrow I will write my blog on juicing and how they get you at cellular level!

Triumphs: Woooo Stephanie who plays my bestie in "The Man In The Maze" purchased a juicer yesterday and brought it to my hotel room this morning as a surprise...oh my I was soooo happy! I love my juices everyday! They seem to keep everything movin...my heart, my toes, my energy, my face hahaaa!

What I Ate Today:

Breakfast: A green apple. A beetroot, carrot, ginger, celery, apple juice.

Lunch: Cooked beans, lentils and chickpeas. MMM MMM! A avocado

Dinner: Chocolate balls with walnuts.Indian rice and cooked lentils with corriander and chilli and spices cooked by Nimi the beautiful wife of the director :)

Dessert: I had dessert before dinner...yes I am embracing my frenchness!

Snacks: Walnuts. Apple. A cucumber (the only food cockroaches won't eat is cucumber!!!)

Exercise: Working on set filming "The Man In The Maze", oh and I also did some yoga and some circle star jumps by he river when we were waiting for the makeup call.

Day 138

This could be inside your bowels...

Thoughts: A lesson about your bowels...how well do you really know them?

You're NOT Fat! Find out the real cause of your protruding belly. It starts in your bowels.

Stop Starving Yourself: Denying yourself food to avoid bloating and gas only leads to binging. "Instead of decreasing what goes into you," explains Dr. Mauro, "increase what comes out of you."

"Think of your colon like a short hose. If you keep on packing food down that hose but have the other end clogged up, what's going to happen?

"Two things: The tube is going to start bulging outward, because there is no exit point.

"Secondly, that food is going to start to rot. By rotting I mean it will ferment, fester and stagnate — becoming food for microscopic bacteria..."

Here was where it all started to make sense to me...
"...when those bacteria feast on the leftovers inside your gut, they produce gas. Gas and backed up waste cause bloating, cramps and transforms your gut into a trash bin."

Dr. Mauro continued, "Those same bacteria also produce waste products that damage the lining of your colon and the nerves responsible for pumping food out."

Thank you Jason for reccomending the link www.ratemypoo.com hehe check it out for a laugh or a cry or a pout ;)

Challenges: When I resist my bowels, that's when things get cloggd up down there.

Triumphs: Appreciating my bowels :)

What I Ate Today:

Breakfast: 2 pears and a beetroot, ginger, celery, apple and carrot juice.

Lunch: Cooked beans and lentils and chickpeas.

Dinner: Jeera rice (rice with jeera Indian spice) with chickpeas, curry powder, chilli and corriander.

Dessert: Chocolate balls with walnuts.

Snacks: Walnuts and brazil nuts.

Day 139

Thoughts: “Its like being trapped in a shell” is how someone described to me how they feel in their body.

How can you be present and enjoy your life if you’re not present and enjoying being inside of your very own body. I eat only foods from the Earth, and let me tell you I am still constantly challenged with being inside my body and enjoying being inside my body, and I know it’s 100 times worse if I am eating food that is produced by a machine. I know because I have been there, when I was eating chocolate and lollies and chips and takeaways and processed foods, being inside my body was a nightmare, and it’s crazy that I wanted to escape my own body. I still have those thoughts of “You will never be good enough, look good enough, have a good enough body, have good enough health”, and my question to that voice is “what do I have to ‘be good enough’ for exactly?”. That is the crazy vicious circle; it really goes nowhere, except for around and around and around and around. And why do I bother looking in the mirror to even know that before I look in the mirror that voice in my head will say disempowering things, and so I look in the mirror and sure enough they are there ‘You looked better last week’ and then if I rewind to last week I’m pretty sure last week I was lookin in the mirror saying ‘you looked better 2 weeks ago’ and if I rewind two weeks from there, I was lookin in the mirror saying ‘you looked better 1 year ago, damn can’t you go back to then, then you will enjoy your body, and so now what can you do to go back there?’ and the little voice replies with ‘You should eat this and that and not eat this and that and you should exercise more and you should detox and you need to do this...’ and blab la bla yuk...this is so tiring! Such a tiring and disempowering conversation circle that I find myself trapped in. And the impact is I am never really enjoying (in joy in) my body. No wonder we age so quickly as human beings. And get cancer, and get sick.

Dissatisfaction kills us. So then I’m like ok right now in this moment, NOW, can I fully appreciate and love and be in joy in my body? and straight away I feel the pulse of “no your bloated, your face is puffy, you look white, you have a pimple nestled in the left side of your nose, your skin is dry, your hair is dry, you look like crap, first you need to fix all of these things before you can fully enjoy your body”. And that has been my vicious circle of thoughts for many years, I have been robbed of experiencing my own human body. I am not allowing myself to do this anymore. If I were to leave this planet today, I would be so disappointed and I would regret never actually fully enjoying and experiencing my body and health. So now every time those disempowering thoughts surface I am reminding myself that this is just a vicious circle. And I say vicious because it is tiring, and vicious in that If I didn’t catch it, if I wasn’t aware of it, it would control me, without even knowing, and then something has control over me. Now I take full responsibility and it doesn’t have me, I have it. If people kill themselves, they have let the machinery win. If I allow myself to believe doubtful thoughts I have about myself, I am letting the machinery win.

Challenges: Not allowing the machinary to take over and be in control.

Triumphs: I have 'it', 'it' doesn't have me.

What I Ate Today:

Breakfast: A green apple. A beetroot, carrot, celery, ginger and apple juice.

Lunch: An avocado with lettuce. A cucumber. Cooked beans, chick peas, lentils, black eyed peas, beans beans beans.

Dinner: Indian, rice with Dahl (cooked lentils)

Dessert: Chocolate balls.

Snacks: Orange.

Exercise: Working on set "The Man In The Maze" ;) walkin in the Alabama woods :)

Day 132

Thoughts: We are what we eat. Do you eat consciously?

I have heard this expression "We are what we eat" so often, and I have been thinking lately if someone eats only deep fried food what are they? and what about someone who eats only foods from the earth? What is the difference? So I found this amazing article on buddhatrance.com ........

“We are what we eat”. We have heard this many times before, and we do understand that there is a connection between the quality of our foods and our overall health and well being. Foods that are full of vitality, are obviously better for us, and they have a positive effect on both the body and the mind. The spiritual approach to eating takes us a step further, by looking at the transformation of matter into energy.

The physical aspects…

When we digest the food we eat, new blood cells are created. From there, new cells and new tissue. Food is the building block of who we will become. What we have eaten in the past, is who we are in the present moment.

In order for our body to function at the optimal level, it is important that our daily intake is made of foods that are nourishing, rich in vitamins and minerals, free of pesticides, and prepared with natural ingredients. Such foods are full of life force, which will keep the body in a balanced state. On the contrary, foods that are processed with chemicals, refined, genetically engineered, are “dead” (a.k.a. Frankenfoods), and lack the vitality that we need to absorb from them.

The World’s Healthiest Foods features good recipes and general information on eating healthy and vital food. Being healthy means having the ability to adapt to your environment. Zen Cooking follows the principle of energy cycles, balancing ying and yang in a harmonious way.

From the physical plane, the high quality energy of the food creates a clearer mind, a more balanced emotional state, without the highs and lows of refined sugars and chemicals. Your entire body is nourished at the cellular level, and you function at your very best in daily life.

The spiritual aspects…

From the spiritual plane, you realize that the food you see on your plate took millions of years of evolution to get there. Eating spiritually means eating consciously, from the knowledge that the entire Universe came together to sustain you and your very existence. The spiritual energy of food is made not only of physical quality (organic, seasonal, whole, natural), but also of metaphysical quality.

When food is cooked and prepared with love, as a mother would cook for her child, with the inner vision of the child’s health and well being, this love adds a superior energy to the plain ingredients. On the contrary, industrial foods are prepared without that intent. They are not only poorer in quality, they also lack conscious energy.

Savoring foods with a spiritual attitude, means honoring the intelligent design of our bodies, experiencing the physical world with a sense of wonder and gratitude. Eating spiritually means honoring the food you eat, because it will be transformed from matter into vibrations. The food you eat will become you, your thoughts, your creativity, your life force, your destiny. Your digestive system is the medium through which food becomes consciousness.

When we eat in a rushed way, mindless of each mouthful, distracted by television, we are not adding our own conscious intent, we are not participating in a process that is life giving and creating our very Self.

Through you, a simple vegetable becomes a human cell, and ultimately a conscious thought. When you eat, the Universe keeps expanding and transforming. When you eat mindfully, you feel the abundance of the Source where everything originates from. With every bite your absorb the energy of Love, and the miracle of creation.

When you eat, not only your physical body is nourished, but your etheric and astral bodies as well. The spiritual way of eating is the awareness of the alchemical transformation of physical matter into pure consciousness.

Do you eat consciously?

Palma thank you so much for providing this blog to the people, the least I can do it provide it to the people who read this blog.
