Foods for concentration and focus

Foods that nourish our brains and provide it with essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients, are great for improving focus and concentration.

Oppositely, foods that aren't helpful for concentration are ones that deprive our bodies of nutrition. Processed foods.

Here are some foods to incorporate for improving focus and concentration:
Drink Ginkgo biloba daily until it just doesn't resonate with you. After your body has had a high dose it naturally won't want it!

Also what works is fish, especially salmon, berries, ginseng, avocado, quinoa, cacao (real chocolate)!

Eat these foods daily until you feel an improvement!

Here are 4 recipes:
1. Chocolate Avocado Mousse

2. Baked Salmon (with Walnut Crust)
http://www.theearthdiet.org/23/post/2013/11/baked-crusted-salmon.html

3. Quinoa with avocado and strawberries

4. Berry Smoothie

Ideally if you can eat only natural foods for the rest of your life you know your taking care of your body and living your healthiest life. Processed foods that have chemicals, refined sugar and flour will deprive your body of nourishment and nutrition and can do the opposite of what you want to achieve more focus and memory! The chemicals and preservatives in processed foods can weaken memory!!

Let me know how you go with these!

I got this research from the following resources: Dr Robert Young, Dr Brian Clements, Julie Daniluk, Natural News, and my own experiences.

Freedom from unhappiness is attainable now.

"If there is unhappiness in you, first you need to acknowledge that it is there. But don't say, "I'm unhappy". Unhappiness has nothing to do with who you are. Say: "There is unhappiness in me." Then investigate it." This is from Eckhart Tolle's book A New Earth.

"A situation you find yourself in may have something to do with it. Action may be require to change the situation or remove yourself from it. If there is nothing you can do, face what is and say, "Well, right now, this is how it is. I can either accept it, or make myself miserable." The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it. Be aware of the thoughts you are thinking. Separate them from the situation, which is always neutral, which always is as it is. There is the situation or the fact, and here are my thoughts about it. For example "I am ruined" is a story. It limits you and prevents you from taking effective action. "I have fifty cents left in my bank account" is a fact. Facing facts is always empowering. Be aware that what you think, to a large extent, creates the emotions that you feel. See the link between your thinking and your emotions. Rather than being your thoughts and emotions, be the awareness behind them.

Freedom from unhappiness is attainable now."

Thank you Eckhart Tolle for this insight.

Doing this work and then having a nice luscious smoothie to fill the cells with love and nourishment. Surely when the body is taken care of with nutrition it feels much happier then loaded with low-vibe processed junk! ;)

Recipes I recommend for a happy body would be Berry Smoothie, Raw Chocolate, Green Juice and cookie dough balls! Go to website they are free there just type in search bar.

Practicing abundance for health!

Abundance is linked to health. When we live in lack of we may experience lack of symptoms that prevent us from feeling well.

This subject is brought about tonight when I "randomly" opened Eckhart Tolle's book "A New Earth" right on the chapter of abundance.

I want to share with you what it says, as its helping me immensely and it may do the same for you!

So here this is what it says:

ABUNDANCE

Who you think you are is also intimately connected with how you see yourself as treated by others. Many people complain that others do not treat them well enough. "I don't get any respect, attention, recognition, acknowledgment," they say. "I'm being taken for granted." When people are kind, they suspect hidden motives. "Others want to manipulate me, take advantage of me. Nobody loves me."
Who they think they are is this: "I am a needy "little me" whose needs are not being met." This basic misperception of who they are creates dysfunction in all their relationships. They believe they have nothing to give and that the world and other people are withholding from them what they need. Their entire reality is based on an illusory sense of who they are. It sabotages situations, mars all relationships. If the thought of lack - whether it be money, recognition or love - has become part of who you think you are, you will always experience lack. Rather than acknowledge the good that is already in your life, all you see is lack. Acknowledging the good that is already in your life is the foundation for all abundance. The fact is: Whatever you think the world is withholding from you, you are withholding from the world. You are withholding it because deep down you think you are small and that you have nothing to give.

Try this for a couple of weeks and see how it changes your reality: whatever you think people are withholding from you - praise, appreciation, assistance, loving care, and so on - give it to them. You don't have it? Just act as if you had it, and it will come. Then, soon after you start giving, you will start receiving. You cannot receive what you don't give. Outflow determines inflow. Whatever you think the world is withholding from you, you already have, but unless you allow it to flow out, you won't even know that you have it. This includes abundance. The law that outflow determines inflow is expressed by Jesus in this powerful image: "Give and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap."

The source of all abundance is not outside of you. It is part of who you are. However, start by acknowledging and recognizing abundance without. See the fullness of life around you. The warmth of the sun on your skin, the display of magnificent flowers outside a florists shop, biting into a succulent fruit (oh boy I can relate to this!), or getting soaked in an abundance of water falling from the sky. The fullness of life is there at every step. The acknowledgment of that abundance that is all around you awakens the dormant abundance within. Then let it flow out. When you smile at a stranger, there is already a minute outflow of energy. You become a giver. Ask yourself often: "What can I give here: how can I be of service to this person, this situation?" You don't need to own anything to feel abundant, although if you feel abundant consistently things will almost certainly come to you. Abundance comes only to those who already have it. It sounds almost unfair, but of course it isn't. It is a universal law. Both abundance and scarcity are inner states that manifest as your reality. Jesus puts it like this: "For to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away."

Food for thought!

How I gave myself the greatest gift today on my birthday 27th!

Today turning 27 was such a highlight! I woke up in the morning with slight heaviness about the situation, and soon realized there is no pressure at all. I am going from 26 to 27, and I suddenly had this light bulb moment: I HAVE MY HEALTH! and If I have my health... I have everything!!! So anything else I 'gain' or 'get' in this life is just a bonus! I realized I am so happy and content and at peace with my life much because of my inner and outer health. This really is a new perspective transformation for me. I realize this new perspective is a choice, and now I choose this over and over and over again. I am so so so fulfilled with the idea that I have my health, so I have everything!!!

There was once a time in my life when I did NOT have my health! I was 21 - and very very sick - a tumor in my throat the size of a golf ball, a sluggish lymphatic system, glandular fever, doctors wanted to diagnose me with chronic fatigue - I had very low energy. and oN TOP of all that... I was addicted to junk foods! ahjhhh! And I would binge every few days on so much junk food that I would feel so so so sick - and was suffering. During this time I made ONE WISH over and over again - to be free of addiction to junk food - and to be healthy. All I wanted was to be healthy. That was my entire focus. I often said to myself, if I can just get my health back, and feel really good again from the inside out, and look good and vibrant - then I will forever be grateful for the rest of my life!

So you see I really have no reason to ever not be satisfied again! ;) Provided that I maintain health! And with living the Earth Diet lifestyle this is totally doable!

Today was about taking care of myself. I had a lovely nourishing sleep in! And then woke up and made a lemon water, and then had a great green juice with turmeric - awesome way to start the day! Then I headed to Wild By Nature with a friend where we got supplies for my birthday dinner! Then we went to Avalon park on Long Island - and experienced heaven on earth! Such a gorgeous day in the sunshine, bright blue skies and a beautiful spring day in NY! I was so grateful to be in nature, hiking, walking and playing for hours. A little 5 year old girl spotted us and ran over to us, she thought I was a teenager because I was vibrant with energy! I explained to her I am now 27 - a 'teenage adult' hehe! Then I mediated for a couple hours, and then made a birthday dinner for myself and friends! Yes I wanted to make it - because making food is such a gift and I enjoy it so much! I made burgers - earth diet style ;) After dinner I spent the next several hours replying to all my birthday messages and now doing this blog!

Whole30 Tip // Lunch and Snacks on the Go

Keeping hard boiled eggs, fresh veggies and fruit readily available makes quick on the go foods much easier. Going to the park with a packed lunch made for a lovely lunch in the sun.

Whole30 Tip // Costco Crumbled Bacon

So my #1 question I get lately is about bacon! So here is my official stance: bacon IS listed on the #whole30approved food list, however after several shopping trips and even more googling it's near impossible to find bacon without sugar! What's a girl to do?! I personally use this crumbled bacon from Costco - it's 100% real bacon, naturally smoked and there isn't enough sugar for even a gram to be listed in the nutritional facts chart but in the ingredients list it says "cured with water, salt, sugar" so it's there a little tiny bit! I use a tablespoon or 2 in some meals, I don't eat it every day and I don't have handfuls (ha!) and I feel like this is as good of a choice as I can make and I sleep just fine at night and still feel like I didn't cheat on Whole30 , but some die hards might argue because sugar is listed it's not compliant- I'd rather this than paying $17 for a couple slices you can get shipped to your home! Anyway, who knew I'd have such a strong stance on bacon?!
